Has the drive been flashed before?

To keep your xbox from shutting off plug in you video cables.

The magic keys don't work with every drive. I've had 1 or 2 BenQs that didn't accept the magic keys. Mainly the old BenQs that registers as DVD-ROM DRIVE instead of VAD6038 in the inqury.

The only way I was able to flash it was with my VIA card and using the power on power off power on trick.

If you have a CK3 or some kind of connectivity kit with a switch on it, switch the drive on, do an intro and it will say blah blah yes or no. Hit yes. Then it will show 0x51 (Drive responding, flash locked) and then power off, then power on. Wait 1 second before turning it on. Don't just flip it real quick. If it's successful, you should get 0x73 (Drive responding, Flash readable).

Now, if you try it with an Intel SATA chipset, you'll just keep getting 0x51, 0x80, 0x51. Believe me, I've tried many times to get it to work. Only works on VIA.

i tried the power on/off trick too, but that didn't work for me either

i was able to get my drive into vendor mode by trying with a different computer (still just powering with my xbox and connecting with a sata directly to the motherboard) - so there must have been some type of problem with my first computer
